Introduction

Spelling Correction questions ask you to identify a misspelled word within a sentence (or choose the correctly spelled option among near-identical choices). Most errors fall into a handful of repeating patterns.

"Annouce" is missing an "n" — the correct spelling is "announce" (double "n").
⚠️ Key Insight: "-ance/-ence" and "-able/-ible" pairs have no simple universal rule — they must largely be memorised word by word, so keep a running list of these specific words as you encounter them in practice.
💡 Exam Tip: The classic "i before e except after c" rule works for most words (believe, receive) but has notable exceptions (weird, science) — don't apply it blindly without cross-checking familiar exceptions.
