Introduction
Active voice emphasises WHO does an action ("The boy kicked the ball"); passive voice emphasises the
RECEIVER of the action ("The ball was kicked by the boy"). SSC directly tests conversion between the two
across every tense.
The Conversion Formula
💡 Core Method: Object (active) becomes Subject (passive) → Verb changes to "be + V3 (past participle)" → Subject (active) becomes "by + object" (passive).

⚠️ Note: Present Perfect Continuous, Past Perfect Continuous, and Future Continuous/Perfect Continuous tenses are rarely converted to passive voice in standard usage — SSC almost never tests these forms.

Sentences Without a Clear Doer — "By" Omission
💡 Exam Tip: When the doer of the action is unknown, unimportant, or obvious (e.g., "someone," "people"), the "by + subject" phrase is often dropped entirely in the passive form.

"By someone" is typically dropped since the doer is unknown
